Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Flying Fish. Took my first flight with an infant a week ago. Coralyn and I flew to Vancouver, where Marc was working for 8 days. Marc picked us up at the airport last Friday and the three of us flew home together on Wednesday. It was amazingly easy. I checked my bag (which was pretty packed after I stuffed 5 days worth of cloth diapers into it) and the carseat then carried on the diaper bag. Cora was strapped into the Bjorn - where she's always content to check things out. She was awake and happy for all of the time we were in the airport and customs and half the time we were in the air. The rest of the time she nursed herself to sleep - especially during take off and landing. Even the guy sitting next to me commented on what a pleasantly happy traveling companion she was.

We had a spectacular time exploring Vancouver - we went up to Whistler, hung out at the Aquarium and the Vancouver Art Gallery, and wandered around downtown, which is where our hotel was located. The picture is of Coralyn gazing out our hotel window early one morning.

Vancouver has an overwhelming variety of restaurants - and good restaurants at that. We had a wonderful roasted lamb dish at a quaint little greek restaurant. We tasted some of the best Pho I've ever had at a Vietnamese place. We found a French bakery with a to-die-for chocolate-almond croissant with almond creme in the center. During (quite literally) the rest of the trip, we gorged ourselves on inexpensive and generous portions of sashimi. I'm only half-exaggerating here - we really did have sashimi nearly every day. It's incredible in Vancouver. Now, I'm comparing it mostly to what we get in landlocked Colorado, but the one place we frequented a lot (*quite* a lot) has veritable slabs of fish they serve on their sashimi/sushi combo meal. Slabs. Thicker than your finger. It's something of a pity that we didn't try more of the restaurant offerings - next time. Although, I suspect we might again become addicted to getting our affordably delicious sashimi fix. Even now, I'm having slight withdrawals...

enjoy these easy flights. when he reached the age of one Eren had already flown 22 times! we used to get praises too, people not even noticing that there was a baby on board.
our last trip to and from Europe was really exhausting! things change completely once they get mobile (read my last post on my blog). rather than praises you start getting dirty looks from people who obviously do not have kids.
after last experience I swore not to travel when I have two kids. of course I will so I better wait till Eren is 16 until we get number 2.:)
