Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

All my ex's...no, not really. We're in Texas now, staying with my Uncle Ron & Aunt Elaine. We had the drive from hell the other evening - trying to push our luck with a baby who'd had just about enough of car rides for the day - all so we could see my cousins, who had driven up for the afternoon specifically to greet us and meet Coralyn. We tried many innovative parenting techniques designed to comfort a fussy baby, including the one pictured above. Brilliantly elegant and simple (if I do say so myself), and miracle of miracles, it actually WORKED. Well, for a few moments, anyway. But, we made it in time for Coralyn to meet everyone and enjoy a late dinner with a starving family who was very gracious about our delayed arrival.

I'm having a couple of peaceful, relaxing days alone. Marc flew out to PA again for more work with the same client and my Aunt and Uncle left for a few days, yesterday morning. Amanda came over for dinner last night and Marc's due back later this evening, which will be nice. The two days of semi-solitude with no itinerary and no one but myself and Coralyn was a nice change. But we're both looking forward to having Marc back with us. After 5+ weeks of family togetherness either in a car or a 22' Airstream, you'd think we'd be sick of each other. We're finding the exact opposite is the case.

We had a milestone earlier today - Coralyn rolled over from back to tummy! She did it once and I rolled her back over to see if she'd do it again for the video camera. She did, and now we have the moment on tape to share with her daddy. Also, I have a cute baby-related story from the other night: Elaine came upstairs to kiss a sound asleep Coralyn goodnight/goodbye. She kissed her gently on the forehead and we both watched as a smile crept across Cora's face and then vanished into relaxed sleep again. It was adorable and Elaine commented, "Well, that was worth it!" Little things are so much fun with this kid. I'll leave you with a picture of her, grinning at the camera from Amanda's arms.
