Cookies (and a bun) in the oven. Had some folks asking for photos. Here's one from about a week ago. Things in the last week have started to "pop", so to speak. I'm sure all those cookies didn't help matters. ;)We're enjoying the second trimester much more enthusiastically than the first. It's amazing what a difference a few weeks makes. Marc is handling increased mood swings, cravings, and being usurped by boatloads of pillows with grace, humor and compassion. I'm so thankful for him.
The weather here has been snowy, to put it mildly. People are starting to plan their week around the "Friday storm" that seems to keep schools closed and commuters off the roads. It's been a nice reprieve from the commute to Boulder, and I'm actually getting lots of work accomplished from home. Plus, we can shovel the walks 3 or more times a day and save our backs from heavy lifting. We installed a wood burning stove recently and have been enjoying cozy fires while the snow falls outside. I've had gas fireplaces in my most recent homes, but they just don't compare to the crackle and glow of a wood burner. These new stoves are amazingly efficient and clean! And they crank out the heat. Last year, we had astronomical heating bills. Our house, being over 100 years old, wasn't exactly airtight. We did some work to remedy that and this year we're hoping that work and the wood burner will help us to keep the bills down. It's also been helpful that shoveling keeps you warm.
What else is new? Hmmm...
We're planning a long vacation back to the Bahamas in February - probably our last hurrah sans child for a while. I look forward to sharing the joys of the property with the little one, but will definitely enjoy sharing it with my hubby this time. We'll meet my dad out there and get some good relaxation and visiting time in.
Hope the holidays treated everyone well. Happy New Year!
