I did it. I rode my first century yesterday. 100 miles up and down Colorado terrain on my bike. It took a looong time - my pace was relatively slow - but I got it done. I know some cyclists who'll go out and ride 100 miles routinely - I'm not one of them, at least not yet. Endurance sports have never been my thing until VERY recently. So for me, a 100 mile ride is a pretty significant accomplishment. How incredibly fulfilling. OK, so I was nauseous and wobbly, but fulfilled nonetheless. I couldn't have done it without my faithful "domestique", Marc, who certainly could have completed the ride MUCH faster than I, but stuck with me throughout the entire experience and encouraged me on. I'm thinking about maybe another one before the season is out. Apparently, I'm a glutton for punishment.
