Siafu. Killer African ants. Nasty little buggers. Check this out - They're blind. They range from 1 to 15 mm long. They form highways as they travel from their lair to the hunting field or fans when they are actively hunting. And HUNTING! They hunt by sensing the carbon dioxide that insects and animals breath out. They can overpower small mammals - stories also say they can overpower large ones, like horses or elephants, but I'd have to see that to believe it. I did see them (on TV) overtake a chicken. Seems the large ones have HUGE pincers - no poison...they don't seem to need it - and they open up a wound for the smaller ones to crawl into and munch soft flesh. Makes you want to take a nice barefoot walk in the forest, eh? And can you guess the most common cause of death from Siafu attack? Suffocation ... from lungs invaded and clogged with ants. Whoa. They DO actually have a positive side - they take care of any dead stuff you might have lying around.

The world is full of cool shit. I'm going to start planning a trip to Africa. But first...a trip is already booked for the Dominican Republic.
