Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Blah, blah, blah. Been at the new job a month now, and while I've still got a lot of ropes to learn, I'm feeling a lot more knowledgable. I've become addicted to the Personal World Clock site, as I'm working on a technical project with some folks in Australia. Got to keep up on that time difference. And, I feel I took a big leap forward last week when I found the cafeteria all on my own through the internal corridors, rather than going outside to get my bearings. I'm considering putting that on my resume.

Did you ever wonder where "learn the ropes" originated? Actually, that one's pretty easy. The Phrase Finder says:
-Learn the Ropes-
Meaning: Learn something new.
Origin: A nautical term, from the days of sailing ships when new recruits had to learn which rope hauled up which sail.

Who knew?

Even though I've got the job, I'm still planning to sell the house. It feels like a trammel on my financial and personal freedom. Too much house for where I am in life right now.

Went to California last weekend. Gotta love those e-fares. The weather here in CO was pretty cold and somewhat snowy but in CA, we were in shorts and T-shirts during the day. Was cooler in the eves. In celebration of my first few paychecks, I bought myself a digital camera. It hasn't arrived yet, but I hope to have it in time for Thanksgiving. More pictures!

So, from now on, when I Blog I'm going to try and use the word of the day specified by dictionary.com. Today's word is used above. Trammel: Something that restricts activity, expression, or progress; a restraint. I doubt I'll ever post every day, but when I do Blog, I'll work that word of the day in there somewhere. Maybe learn something new. And I'm always up for that.
